What should I expect and how much will it cost?

Initially, a thorough but sensitive discussion and assessment of your difficulties is required, in order to achieve an understanding of what is affecting you and why, and what therapy may help and how many sessions this may require.

The cost of a consultation is charged at £95.00 per session (50 minutes duration). You can also opt for assessment or therapy sessions of longer duration at additional cost if you wish. Please contact me for details. During this consultation, we will discuss a psychological understanding of your difficulties and, if appropriate, you can plan out with Dr Moss how therapy can help and how many sessions this will require. Therapy sessions are also of 50 minutes duration charged at the same rates as above.

Sessions can be paid for in cash, by cheque, or by card.
All major debit and credit cards are also accepted, including Apple Pay and Android Pay.

Sessions by phone or video call (Skype) can also be arranged. Contact me for further details.

Can I use my health insurance to fund sessions?

Yes, absolutely.

Different rates apply if you are using private health insurance, due to the additional administration required.
Most health insurers are accepted such as AXA-PPP, Pru Health, Simply Health, WPA and CIGNA  (with the exception of BUPA which is not accepted).

You may need a GP referral and in some cases a psychiatric assessment and referral prior to being able to use your policy for psychological therapy. The health insurance company may also stipulate the maximum number of sessions they are willing to fund or expect you to pay an excess fee, depending on the details of your policy. Please phone or email for further details and discussion about using your health insurance to fund psychological therapy.

You can also be referred to us by your employee assistance programme. Please contact me for details.

What happens after my assessment?
Sessions are typically arranged weekly or fortnightly at times to suit you, with regular review of outcomes and progress.

Most people begin to see improvement after the first few sessions and duration of therapy between 6 and 20 sessions is typically effective for most of the psychological difficulties seen in our clinics. If you want just one or two sessions for an initial discussion and some advice, that's absolutely fine too.

All of our consulting rooms are private, comfortable and your confidentiality is assured.
Free parking is available nearby for the Reading clinic. The London clinic is very central and well-served by public transport, being only a few minutes walk from Bond Street tube station.

It is normally good practice for your Clinical Psychologist to write you a brief summary of your assessment and planned therapy and copy this to your GP. This is at no additional cost. If you are funding your assessment or therapy yourself, however, you have a choice about whether to receive this summary and who you would or would not like it to be sent to. If you are using a health insurance policy, they will usually expect a report and regular updates to be sent to either your GP, or the referrer (such as a Psychiatrist). These reports would also be copied directly to you, should you wish to receive them.
